About Blackform
Founder-led insert development for publishers and crowdfunding teams.
Why Blackform exists
Blackform was built around a simple idea: insert design should support the game, the publisher, and the manufacturer at the same time.
I come from a background that combines software thinking, product design, and digital fabrication. That mix pushed me toward board game inserts as a design problem worth taking seriously: how components are handled, how quickly a game reaches the table, how safely it travels through production, and how clearly it packs out for fulfillment.
How I work
I do not approach inserts as generic organizers. Every project starts by understanding the game itself: how it sets up, how it is played, where the friction lives, and what manufacturing constraints will shape the final design.
That leads to a process built around:
- learning the game and component flow
- designing for real table use
- iterating directly with the publisher
- validating against factory feedback
- handing off a design that is ready for manufacturing
Who I work with
Blackform works best with publishers and crowdfunding teams who need thoughtful insert development during campaign preparation, production validation, or release refinement.
Projects range from published retail titles to collector’s editions, crowdfunding campaigns, and in-production games moving toward pack-out.
What matters to me
The goal is not to add plastic for its own sake. The goal is to create inserts that make the game easier to set up, easier to store, and more satisfying to bring to the table while staying grounded in real production constraints.
